Australians, per capita, are responsible for more CO2 being expelled into the atmosphere than any other country. We’re emitting five times more than China and almost 20% more than the US, which is in second place.
Carbon monitoring for action (carma.org) has undertaken a study of more than 50,000 power plants and their emissions. Our American cousins are releasing the most CO2, 2.5bn tones a year, but Australian power stations are the least efficient on a per capita basis giving us the worst reputation.
I’m thinking it might be time to switch the lights at your place for green bulbs? Ride a bike to work? Carpool?
